I have been a teacher of the hearing impaired since 1980. I attended the University of AL where I received my undergraduate degree in deaf education and did my student teaching in Mobile in the fall of '79-'80. I then moved to New Orleans, LA and taught deaf students in the elementary setting until the year 2000. I got my master's degree and an additional 30 hours from the University of New Orleans and also attended classes for 2 summers at the Bath College of Higher Education in Great Britain . In 2000, I retired and moved back to Mobile to be closer to my family. I am a 'highly qualified' teacher and have taught for the Regional School for the Deaf and Blind since the fall of 2000 . In 2001 I was assigned to the campus of Causey Middle School and have been delighted to be here ever since. I teach self contained deaf students, as well as hard of hearing inclusion students . My students have participated in extra curricular activities including basketball, math club, volleyball and they have participated in the Volunteer's of America's- Spirit of Giving each Christmas , the Lyon's Club -Peace Poster Contest and Special Olympics.
