Causey Middle School 8th Grade Robotics students participated in FIRST Lego League Regional Qualifier in Alexander City, AL on December 2, 2017. Causey Middle School’s students were in 4 teams that competed in 4 missions: robot design, project, teamwork and core values, and robot game. Mrs. Clements and her students have been preparing for this competition since the end of August. The theme of this year’s event is Hydrodynamics. Students have been learning about the human water cycle and how water is essential to our daily lives. The team’s project mission this season was to improve the way people find, transport, use, or dispose of water. Teamwork and FIRST Lego League’s Core Values have encouraged us to work together as teams and encourage everyone involved to be the best they can be. Students also designed and engineered a robot to move through the Hydrodynamics game board. Robots had to be structured in such a way that attachments could be added or removed when necessary as well as slim enough to maneuver through a crowded game field.

Tigerbot Team Fierce won the award for Best Robot Design. Tigerbot Team Navy came in 3rd place in the robot game board. Both teams will be advancing to the State Competition held in Huntsville on January 20, 2018. Mrs. Clements said, “I am proud of the hard work and dedication all my students had for this season. Everyone brought their very best on Saturday and did an outstanding job!”
